A 17-year-old Kurdish-Iranian  was approached at a bus stop before being chased and treated with  to a brutal attack by up to 30 people.

He was left with a fractured skull and a blood clot on his brain after the attack in Croydon on Friday.

The five were arraigned for violent disorder, while one was also charged with racially aggravated GBH.

In total, 11 people have been arrested and officers are trying to locate five others. They have also released CCTV images information of two men they would like to speak to about what they describe as a racially motivated attack.

All those arrested are aged between 17 and 24.

sources shows that the incident happened in Shrublands Avenue at 23:40 BST on Friday. A white hatchback with a black roof is being sought by officers.

The unidentified victim, who has been living in Croydon for months, is starting to make a recovery,based on the news gathered from the  police

While Officers are still trying to contact his family,It is hoped the student will be moved out of intensive care soon.

He was with two friends and on his way home from another friend's house when he was set upon, police said.

Det Supt Jane Corrigan said she was confident everyone accountable for the assault would be arrested.

"There was no reason for this attack and I believe because of the numbers involved people have just jumped on the back of it and it's turned into a violent brawl where someone has been maliciously beaten and is very lucky to have not lost his life," she said.

"I haven't seen a hate crime like this. This was pure hate and there was only one motivation and that was to cause grave damage."
